I am Sir Ailduin Varis or as you may come to know me Logan Knight of the Silver Blood, and I am the sole survivor of a time long ago. And as the last of the Silver Blood Knights it is my duty to pass on our history and our legend. You may find my writings to be unskilled with many problems but that is because I was not born a knight, so please pardon any errors in my writing. But be warned this story may get messy and gorey rather quickly. so if you do not wish to see or read anything as messy as this i suggest you leave this page now for it may only get worse.
It all began one hundred years before I was born. When the Orcs first started their arrival into this world. My great grandfather the head of a small village (Who I will refer to as "my grandfather" for the time being.) was the first to do battle with an Orc. He was hunting in the woods that day with five other men from the village, when he saw a creature taller than a full grown Human male dragging the body of what was believed to be a wild animal the Orc had caught. My grandfather cried out in horror at what he was seeing. a wild animal in two pieces. Thankfully my grandfather could not see just what the animal was. When the Orc heard my grandfather's cry it turned released the dead body it was holding pulled out it's weapon and charged at my grandfather. Luckily for my grandfather the other villagers heard him and came rushing to his aid with the few weapons they had.
When the Orc saw this it stopped and roared an ear bursting cry that signaled for other Orcs to come to it's aid. My grandfather and the men of the village held off the Orcs long enough for the women and children of the village to get away.
No one ever saw my great grandfather nor the other villagers who stayed behind again. To this day I know not if my grandfather lived and got away, got killed in the battle, or was captured. I do know however that had he not gotten away that it would have been far better for him to die in battle then to be captured by these... Monsters.
Five years later an army of Orcs marched across the land destroying anything they didn't want nor need. By this time my grandfather (One of the villagers who had escaped.) had gotten married to the daughter of a noble men. This marriage was done against the will of my grandmother's father, (Normally this wouldn't be possible. However, by renouncing her name my grandmother made the marriage possible.) a general under the command of the crown Prince Amon. Prince Amon and my grandfather where friends for many years (at which time my grandfather thought the Prince a commoner. As it was said in old times.) and so my grandfather was permitted to lead a small band of foot soldiers, guardsmen, and villagers to a bridge that blocked the path of the Orc army. This small force wasn't meant to stop and defeat the Orc army but rather to slow it down and buy the Prince time to gather a larger force.
Though the Prince had an army at his side he believed it to be too small to stop the Orc army so he requested additional forces from this father the King. (These additional forces where two days away from the Prince and the Orcs where a day away from the bridge) and so seeing as my grandfather and the villagers were wanting to aid in the battle to come, the Prince made the hardest choice he ever had to make. He sent my grandfather and his small force to hold the Orcs at the bridge.
When the Prince and his army arrived my grandfather and about five percent of his forces where still engaged with the front of the Orc forces. (The rest of my grandfathers forces where either dead or to badly injured to fight.)
The battle ending with the Orc forces scattering into small groups of 5 and 6 heading back the way they came. at the start of the battle there were about five thousand Orcs against eight thousand and five hundred Humans. in the end only about one thousand of the human forces were still alive, whereas only a few hundred of the Orcs remained. It was a glorious victory for the Human kingdom. However, this victory came at with a cost greater than anyone ever expected. Prince Amon my grandfather's closest friend and commanding officer, had died in the midst of battle. That day instead of celebrating the victory the whole Kingdom mourned the loss of the Prince.
My grandfather and all the surviving soldiers of the battle that took place with the Orc army were called heroes for saving the kingdom. But my grandfather didn't feel like a hero. Not long after my grandparents had a daughter. (My mother.) She grew up to be a fine young woman who married a man from our village. They lived a happy life until one day everything changed. My father disappeared. and has never been heard from since.
I grew up with a brother and a sister in a village not far from the West Pine Mountains.
when I turned thurteen I went and explored the forest near my home and to my surprise I found a waterfall about a mile away from my home. but I wasn't alone there. I didn't realize it but there was a girl bathing in the pool of water not far from where I was standing. (I luckily only saw her head when I did notice her.) I walked to the pool of water to feel it when I heard a voice. The voice sounded like that of an angel. It took me a moment to realize the voice was a young woman singing. The song I heard was unlike anything I ever heard before.
Without realizing it I said aloud "what a beautiful song." when I said that the voice stopped singing and asked "Who's there?" I looked toward where I heard the voice coming from and saw an even more beautiful woman than the voice. "I'm sorry I was exploring this forest and i spotted this waterfall I never knew anyone else would be here." I said in reply as the young woman disappeared.
"My name is Sonya, Princess Sonya. What is your name?" She asked in a stern voice. "A fitting attitude for royalty." I thought as she came back into view
"My name is Logan." I never thought I would meet a girl and her ask what my name was before I could ask her for her name before.
"Well then Logan. Did you like what you saw?" she asked in a more playful way. "I saw nothing." I replied. "To bad, and I was hoping to get some practice in while I was here to... wait are you a Human?!" She sounded frightened when she asked that. I was just as surprised when I saw that she was a Dark Woodland Elf of the West Wind Mountain. "Yeah, and you're a Dark Woodland Elf. a beautiful one at that." I didn't realize I what finished with till I saw her start to blush. "T-Thank you."
I didn't know it then but that meeting was the start of a wonderful friendship. A few years later after I turned sixteen for the first time I kissed the Princess whom I had falling in love with. Now that I had kissed her she informed me of a great many customs that her people had. One of which was that when a man and woman kiss they become "one" meaning that I had just married the princess of the Dark Woodland Elven Kingdom.
We kept it secret for another two years. (No one ever found out we had met.) during the time we had spent together the Princess had taught me a great many things including her language and how to fight like a Dark Woodland Elf. One day as I went to meet my loving wife I heard what sounded like swords clashing. the Imperial guard of her family's kingdom where fighting my brother and some of the guards from my village, out of nowhere a sword and a shield came flying to me. my brother yelled at me to start fighting the Dark Elves. instead I charged in between the two forces and slammed my shield down onto the ground causing a shockwave that knocked everyone around me to fall to the ground.
"What are you doing?!" my brother shouted as he realized what I had done. "I'm stopping a war before it starts." I said. "Well you're too late!" One of my wife's guards shouted as he charged at me only to be stopped by my wife. (Who had picked up one of the swords that was dropped.) "not if I have a say in the matter!" she yelled in aid to me.
Everyone except me and my wife were in shock at what they just saw. "What is going on here?" A Stern voice said from my right (My brother and his men were closer to the trees where as my wife's guards were closer to the waterfall.) "Father please explain to our guards that we have a treaty with the human kingdom." when I saw her father I was in shock myself because how tall and stern he appeared. (He sounded like a kid when he talked compared to how stern he looked. Even though he was equally stern in every way. To be honest he scared the hell out of me.) "While it is true we have a treaty it will take not only me but also their king to stop this." he pointed to me, my brother, and my brothers men when he said this.
"Men stand down."the man this voice belonged to i didn't need to see to know who it was because I had heard him speak once before. It was King Mark the VI the King of the human kingdom. "My King." Me and all the other humans in the area bowed all at once to the King's arrival.
"Father I... We need to tell you something." my wife said. as she said that i knew what was about to be said and who the second person she was talking about was when she said "we". "I already know about you and the boy being married." Everyone suddenly fell quiet when he said this. Me, my wife, and everyone else stayed there and talked for a few minutes before we all turned back and returned to our homes. except for me and my wife. we went to a small house i built and made it our home. (my family had been given the land the house was on as a gift from the local lord for our service to him during our many years in the village.
after awhile I became a blacksmith and sold weapons and armor to the kings of both kingdoms. (because of the truce it was safe for me to do so.) things were well after i met my father-in-law. until one day a sorcerer appeared and took over the Dark Woodland Elf kingdom (my wife and a small army of those loyal only to her remained by the Human kingdom's side. for a little while we all believed things would be alright until we heard word of Goblins, Ogres, and Orcs that were marching to the Dark Woodland Elf kingdom.
We were outnumbered a thousand to one.
We however still had a hope the King of the Imperial Woodland Elves of the North and the King of the Orcs of the Dark Wood. The Orc King was a Fierce warrior who banded together the Orcs who scattered a hundred years before. And he came to us willing to make a truce so that he could defeat the sorcerer. the King of the imperial woodland elves of the north wanted the same thing. the fall of the sorcerer, the imperial woodland elves were a people who sought commerce and knowledge but trained armies for battle so they might be ready if ever needed.
It was hard but we managed to form a truce with the Orcs of the dark wood and an alliance with the Imperial Woodland Elves. we now had the advantage.
The Imperial Woodland Elves were master archers and swordsmen, the Orcs had numbers, the dark Woodland Elves were masterful assassins and spies, and we humans have strong metals, armor, and weapons. Not including the many knights we had who were far better trained than any other soldiers we had.
Me and many other villagers who owned horses and had skill with swords and shields formed an army of our own (We gathered villagers from all the villages in the kingdom to make our army.)
This army was then called the Knights of the Silver Blood due to how a man's blood looked silver as it would run down the armor that I had made for the army and how we all were willing to die for our kingdom and our families.
When it came time to fight there were more than a hundred thousand soldiers, knights, assassins, orcs, and elves ready for war. All gathered together to fight the sorcerer.
The numbers of our enemies by this time were now close to a hundred and eighty thousand. Once again we were out numbered. however we were far better in skill and leadership then our enemies.
The battle lasted three days and nights non-stop till finally the last of the sorcerer's armies as well as the sorcerer himself had fallen. We lost almost eighty thousand men that day. The sorcerer lost all but one hundred. (His forces were mostly goblins who couldn't tell who their enemy was.)
The Knights of the Silver Blood became actual knights and where known as heroes like my grandfather. Most of these knights returned home and lived peaceful lives. But about a hundred including myself marched across the land keeping the peace as best as we could. At first there were twenty thousand of us after the battle only two thousand remained now I am the last.
I now ask that you take on after me and my men and fight for peace. That does not mean I want you to take up arms and battle. What it means is I want you to try and show kindness to all you meet and that you help all those you can who you find in need of aid.
If you have questions about these knights in the modern day world feel free to ask and I will try to answer.
